Starting Summer

The thought of starting summer was very stressful to me, but since we've been in it, things seem to have fallen into place, and I'm extremely grateful for that.

Gracie learned to tie her shoes all by herself one day. We knew she would. She ties knots to make leashes for her toys that Robby and I can barely untie. She's a clever girl.

Pearl is the best little baby there ever was. She's happy as long as we're together and that is just fine with me.

She sat and watched Gracie start swimming lessons with nary a complaint about the heat.

Gracie insisted on wearing a turtleneck yesterday for some reason. I think it was because she wanted to look like Mary Poppins but she would neither confirm nor deny it.

Pearl is Gracie's biggest fan. When Gracie crawls around the living room at high speeds acting like a horse or a puppy, Pearl laughs and laughs. I have the cutest video of Pearl watching Gracie and getting the biggest kick out of it. Gracie is determined to teach Pearl to crawl.

So far, so good. The rest of the summer will include more trips to the library, more swimming and swimming lessons, more coloring and painting, more reading and writing, more Gracie's Beauty Place visits, more playing with Pearl, plus another trip to Utah. School starts August 8th and I feel confident we will survive.
